Recently, the North Carolina League of Municipalities released results from their survey of municipalities regarding plans to provide cost of living (COLA) and merit pay increases for their employees as part of their FY 2014 budget proposals.
Here are the highlights:
- 190 Municipalities Responded to the Survey
- 63 Municipalities Plan to Offer a Cost of Living Adjustment in FY 2014, with an overall average increase of about 2.12%, with the overall range being 1% to 4%
- 86 of responding Municipalities plan to offer or are undecided about offering merit-based increases in FY 2014
- The average for planned merit-based increases is 2.78%
