The City is seeking qualified candidates for the newly created position of Director of Budget & Strategy, which reports to an Assistant City Manager. It will provide a more focused year-round attention on the budget process and its alignment within the overall strategic vision. The Director is responsible for the City’s annual budget and five-year CIP, long-range financial forecasts and planning, strategic work plan, and organizational performance measurement efforts. The Director is also charged with advocating for the advancement of the City’s commitment to conservative financial stewardship, the integrity and well-being of the City’s budget, and the alignment of resources with intentional city-wide strategic planning efforts.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university; a Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal finance, city management, or a closely related field. Requires experience in managing large and complex budgets in a sophisticated and collaborative business environment, including three (3) years of management and supervisory experience. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A GFOA certification is preferred.
