Excel Proficiency Tests

Earlier today, a member of the NCFinance listserv sent out a request for examples of tests jurisdictions are using to judge applicant and employee proficiency in Microsoft Excel.  There are a couple of different tests and samples available online that you can use as the basis for developing your own:

If you want an idea of specific features that make excellent gauges of proficiency when developing an Excel test, please consult this article:

To improve your proficiency in Microsoft Excel, make sure to attend the Excel workshop at our upcoming NCLGBA Summer Conference, July 14-16. For more information on registration and hotel reservations, please visit our conference page.

The next step online for NCLGBA!

The next step online for NCLGBA!

For several years, NCLGBA has maintained an online presence in order to provide general information about our organization, subscribing to our member listserv, promoting upcoming conferences, and archiving conference presentations for future reference. In the past year, we moved our website from its original home with the UNC School of Government to a NCLGBA-controlled location. We also obtained the NCLGBA.ORG website domain to make remembering and accessing our site easier for members and visitors.  We also took a leading role among public sector professional organizations in developing a robust profile in social media with our active pages on Facebook & LinkedIn.

In order to better integrate information posted to our various online properties, we have once again redesigned the main NCLGBA website. This new design utilizes the WordPress platform similar to many blogs that you visit. Our intention is for this site to continue serving as a source for basic organization administration, as well as better incorporate other group sites, occassional submissions by members, updates from the Board, and future improvements (i.e., online conference & membership sign-up, surveys, etc.).

This main page will serve as the location for posting official NCLGBA updates, including information on our upcoming Summer 2010 Conference in July.  Pages listed in the top header will serve as references to our structure, membership program, listserv subscription, and certification program.  Links to our social media sites, as well as other sites of interest for our members, are located to the left.

Please share your ideas and suggestions on how we can improve this site even more by using the “Comments” feature below. If you have an idea for or want to submit an article for posting on this site, please send it to me directly by email.

Thank you for visiting!
